What Does Sustainable Winegrowing Mean?
Sustainable winegrowing is about taking a holistic approach to the craft of winemaking. It’s more than just caring for the environment—it’s about using energy and water efficiently, protecting biodiversity, reducing waste, and supporting our regional community. For us, sustainability is about improving every aspect of our operations, from soil health in the vineyard to energy use in the winery.

More accolades for Majella
Majella Wines is delighted to announce a string of successes at some of this year's wine shows. The second half of 2024 has seen Majella’s wines securing trophies, showcasing the consistent quality and exceptional winemaking that the family-owned winery is renowned for.
Among the recent wins:
• The 2022 Musician by Majella was awarded the Trophy for Best Red Blend at the Cowra Wine Show, underscoring its status as a standout in its category.
• At the Rutherglen Wine Show, the Majella 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon took home the Trophy for Best Cabernet Sauvignon in Show, highlighting the winery’s skill and consistency in producing high-quality Cabernet.
• The 2022 Musician followed with another triumph, earning the Trophy for Best Red Blend at the 2024 Royal Adelaide Wine Show, continuing its winning streak.
The Musician, which was first released in 2005, remains one of Majella’s most popular and affordable offerings, yet it has already claimed an astounding 22 trophies to date, making it a benchmark for quality and value.
“We’re of course very happy by the recognition our wines have received this year,” said Brian Lynn, co-owner of Majella Wines. “These awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team, and we’re proud to continue crafting wines that reflect the best of the Coonawarra region.”
Majella’s Championship Double
Majella's 2021 The Composer & 2021 The Musician have done exceedingly well at the 2024 Winewise Championship, we are the only producer to receive two gold medallions. Given the sky-high quality of the opposition, this is quite an achievement!
This is what Lester Jesberg had to say about them:
2021 Majella The Musician Coonawarra Cabernet Shiraz The fresh
plum, dark berry and blackcurrant aromas are captivating, and carry a
mere suggestion of oak comfortably. Palate-wise this wine is beautifully
balanced, the fine, soft tannins merging perfectly with the opulent fruit.

2021 Majella The Composer Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon
Stunning purple tints immediately catch the eye. The intense
blackcurrant fruit is supported by precisely integrated oak. This is a
vibrant and intense wine of excellent length and strong regional
character. It may be the best-value cabernet sauvignon in Australia.

The Composer and Musician win trophies at the Cowra Wine Show 2023
Huge Success in Cowra
The Cowra Wine Show is one of the biggest and oldest regional wine shows and was held late last month.
The results were announced last Saturday evening (the 5th August 2023) and Majella's wines really scooped the pool.
The 2021 Majella "The Musician" was awarded the Imperial Hotel Trophy for the Best Dry Red Blend, an outstanding result.
This, however, was outshone by the 2021 Majella "The Composer" which won the Breakout River Meats Trophy for the Best Cabernet Sauvignon, the Benedict Cowra Quartz Trophy for the Best Red Wine of the Cowra Wine Show AND the Trophy for the Best Wine in Show.
The success we have derived is a result of the tireless efforts of the entire Majella team. From the nurturing of the vines to the careful crafting of every wine batch by our skilled winemakers, each member plays a crucial role. Together the team has dedicated countless hours of hard work and commitment to the family owned business.

2021 Composer is Winestate magazine's Cabernet Sauvignon of the year for 2022
We are delighted to have recieved this amazing accolade for the Composer!
“The Composer” by Majella is the newest addition to our range.
It is a finely crafted wine created from selected parcels of estate grown fruit from the Majella vineyard in Coonawarra. It is a fresh, vibrant example of classic Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Composer is a vivid dark magenta red colour with a bright crimson hue. Lush eucalyptus and red fruit aromas are paired with a bright, flavour filled, medium weighted palate of cassis and red berries. Subtle oak integration enhances the smooth and balanced finish.
